On January 24 and 25, Crown's New York branch teamed up with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to fight against hunger. Joining the branch in this effort were Rónan Kelly, Managing Director, North America,Tony Valentine, VP, Operations, North America, Kerry Daniels, Sales Trainer, Peter Foy, Operations Manager - RMS, Jennifer Harvey, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Antoinette Hroncic, Relocation Advisor, North America.
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey distributes food to local families, which was an added incentive for the team to show that they were there for their New Jersey neighbors. Volunteers have many opportunities to help:
· Sorting and repacking food for distribution to more than 900,000 people in New Jersey
· Sorting and assembling outfits for individual children in the Kids Division
· Preparing bulk mailings
· Off-site events
· Collecting food and turkeys at community food drives
· Assisting with fundraisers like Check-Out Hunger
The team’s first day was spent sorting and packaging food for distribution. Donated items from within the large warehouse facility were grouped into categories, such as baby items, paper products, household items, snacks, condiments and beverages, etc. They were boxed up and made ready to ship out.
On the second day, the group worked in a “clean room” taking macaroni from large cartons, repackaging and sealing for distribution.
