This guide will provide you with all the information you need to know about shipping container sizes.

Choosing the right shipping container size for your move

Relocating can be an exciting adventure, but it can also be a challenging experience. One of the essential aspects of relocation is choosing the right shipping container size for your move. If you're not familiar with shipping container sizes, it can be a daunting task. That's why Crown Relocations India has created this guide to help you understand the different container sizes available and choose the right one for your move.

Types of shipping containers

20-foot Standard Container

This container can hold up to 10 standard pallets and is ideal for small moves or transporting fewer items.  A 20 ft container is the smallest international container with external measurements of 5.898m long x 2.44m wide and 2.394m high. Its cubic capacity is approximately 30 cubic meters.

A 20ft container can hold the typical contents of a 2-bedroom apartment or townhouse. In the image below, you can see approximately what that equates to in terms of personal items.

Selecting a professional packing team is vital to ensure everything is packed and loaded correctly.

If a 20ft container is too small for your needs, we recommend our 40 ft container.

40-foot Standard Container

This container can hold up to 20 standard pallets and is suitable for larger moves or transporting more items.  The 40ft container has external measurements of 12m long x 2.44m wide and 2.394m high. Its cubic capacity is approximately 60 cubic meters.

A 40ft container can hold the contents of a typical 4-bedroom villa.

40-foot High Cube Container

The 40ft High Cube container has external measurements of 12m long x 2.44m wide and 2.99m high (hence its name, High Cube!) Its cubic capacity is approximately 70 cubic meters and can hold up to 20 standard pallets.
