Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon - the largest charity platform in India - had close to 40,000 runners participating this year. The event, held every year on the third Sunday of January, featured participants including business leaders, celebrities, sports personalities and the general public, all raising funds for the charities of their choice.
15 runners from Crown India participated in the Dream Run Category while Sibi Samuel from the Mumbai World Mobility team ran the Half Marathon. This year, Crown India supported CHILD RIGHTS and YOU (CRY), an NGO working towards ensuring that the fundamental rights of underprivileged children in India are honored and protected.
The run up to the mega event was marked by the infectious energy and enthusiasm of the participants who trained themselves for the run. A pre-marathon workshop conducted by CRY helped the runners gain perspective of the cause they were running for. A sum of INR 275,000 was contributed towards the cause of child rights protection furthered by CRY.
The race day saw the team running the entire stretch of six kilometers in the heart of Mumbai.
Crown India plans to continue its commitment to improving the communities it operates in by returning to next year's marathon with the same support, sensitivity and attention to an equally worthy cause.
