In order to boost the territory’s tourism, business travel and to increase investment in India, the Ministry of External Affairs has reviewed the e-visa mechanism and there are 3 new categories to be introduced, E-tourist visa, E-business visa and E-medical visa. There is no official announcement yet, however the new policy is effective immediately.
The main changes are:
- The duration of stay is increased from 30 days to 60 days.
- The applicant can submit the applications a maximum of 4 months in advance of the planned visit.
- This is available to nationals of more than 160 nationals travelling to India via 24 airports and 3 seaports.

The number of entries to India is increased:
- e-tourist visa and e-business visa : double-entry
- e-medical visa: triple-entry
- For urgent e-business and e-medical visa applications, the approval time may sometimes cut short to 48 hours but it is still subject to the discretion of the officers.

Remark: This change is intended to result in faster processing time overall, but possible initial delays may be experienced at the beginning of implementing the new system. Crown India would continue to monitor the new development and provides update once they are available.
