Planning a move is a very stressful task and it is recommended that one begins preparing for their move in advance. We had gathered some tips on preparing for your international relocation and had also suggested that creating a detailed week plan almost a month before the moving day is an ideal proposal. Four weeks before the moving day Research for moving companies, ask for quotes and select your preferred moving company. We advise to hire a full company packing service and movers insurance. Decide on the move date and notify your landlord (as per the tenancy agreement and give written notice) Keep important documents with you i.e. birth & marriage certificates, passports, medical records, credit cards, insurance documents, etc This is the perfect time to have a de-clutter (furniture, clothing, toys, collectables, books etc.) If you haven’t done it already, now is the time to research for accommodation and schools at your new country. If you also require a pet relocation, start with the arrangements. Three weeks before the moving day Inform your service providers that you are moving. Make copies of electronic documents e.g. computer photos, files etc. If you are taking your vehicle with you have it checked prior to the moving day. Have you think of having a home clean at your new location? Now is the time to search for it. Check all of your insurance needs and start making arrangements. Read about the CrownCare transit protection to keep your belongings safe. Two weeks before the moving day Transfer children’s school and pet records If you know the layout of your new home try to arrange a floor plan - this will make things a lot easier come moving day. Sort items in garage/garden shed. If you have kids, try to look for someone to take care of them on moving days One week to the moving day Make sure you have completed all documentation to your chosen moving company Clear all property access prior to moving day Defrost your fridge and drain all water hoses 48 hours prior to the moving Disassemble large furniture items i.e. home theatre systems and outdoor play equipment keeping all parts together in the same place. Remove the paintings from the walls. Arrange the suspension of services (cable, newspaper, gas and telephone services) Prepare a personal package for each child with their favorite toys, books, clothing and snacks. Label it with their name and make sure to keep it handy during the move One day before the moving day Pack your personal suitcases and move them together with your valuables, passports, and tickets to a safe place. This will avoid them from being accidentally packed with your other belongings. Disconnect all electronic equipment Remove all toners and ink cartridges from printers, fax machines and batteries from any games, toys and electrical equipment. Make sure you rest enough hours. On the move day Walk through the home with the movers crew and reconfirm your requirements Advise the movers if there are any items that are not being moved and put them aside Check your home for any items that may have been missed before the movers leave. And ake sure you check & sign off their inventoryWith a weekly moving checklist in place, you can be sure that you don’t miss out on anything important in the rush of the relocation.
