Month Before your move Get your essential utilities sorted early. Contact the current energy company supplying the new address and inform them when you are moving in. Gas & Electricity will be connected when you first arrive, however it is your responsibility to contact the current supplier and inform them about the move. Switch Gas & Electricity to a better tariff. You will need to be registered with the current supplier firstly, but then you’re free to switch to a more reliable fixed-rate tariff or a supplier with better price for the services. Register with your new Council. This is dependent on how far you are moving; you might have to update your account or open an entirely new one when relocating internationally. If you are changing local council authorities, you must let both your old and new Council know about the move. Water supplier Registration When you are relocating over a longer distance and international boarders, you will need to find your new water supply provider and register with your new address. The water supplier will be determined by the area you will live in. This is far easier If you are moving locally, where it could be the same supplier. However, you are still obliged to let them about the move.
