As an expat, sometimes it’s the little things from home that you miss. A particular brand, your favorite candy or even the coffee shop that knows just how you take it.
However, the days of stocking up on all your beloved products when visiting home are over. Back in the early 2000s, I remember the overwhelming joy of returning to my home country, the United States, to stock up on my favorite products and treats – Triscuits, Jiffy peanut butter, Quaker instant oatmeal, sharp cheddar cheese and semi-sweet chocolate chips. On my annual trip home, I would return to Dubai loaded with products that you simply could not buy locally. I am so pleased that this is no longer the case! Just about everything from any country is readily available in the UAE.
There are several international supermarket chains that stock everything you could wish for:
With such an extensive selection, foods I crave are no longer missed.
In addition to the array of imported products, wonderful local delights such as lebneh, zaatar, stuffed dates and camel milk chocolates are plentifull. We are simply spoiled for choice in the UAE.
